Feeling Blue? Are you Deficient in Vitamin D3?

Vitamin D3 deficiency is more common than you may think. Roughly 97% of Canadians are deficient in vitamin D3 at some time during the year. For most of us this would be during the summer months when we do not expose our skin to natural sunlight. This is how the body creates vitamin D3 naturally. With the escalation of the fears associated with skin cancer, we are made to believe that getting a natural suntan is deadly. Nothing could be further than the truth. Scientists are perplexed by their findings that some healthy sun exposure actually helps prevent melanoma! Yes, that’s right. We need sun and Vitamin D3 to prevent cancer, produce our hormones, to metabolize our fats and to help our absorption of calcium. Without Vitamin D3, our body just doesn’t function optimally.

Your body will most likely tell you if your vitamin D3 levels are low. How will you know? You feel down, maybe even depressed. You lack the vital energy you once had, especially during the winter months. So if a sunny vacation is out of the question for you, the next best thing is supplementing with a high quality vitamin D3 in a fat soluble form. VitaTree Vitamin D3 is best taken 3 caps per day in the winter months.

3 Ways to Fight Fat!

The battle of the bulge is a constant focus for a number of women and men, who despite their best efforts, have difficulty losing that stubborn weight once and for all. Here are my three tips in terms of supplementation for effective weight loss.

1. Detoxification- helps to eliminate stored toxins from the fat cells. Once the toxins are released, the body no longer has to hold onto excess water and fat to dilute the toxins. See my formula VitaDetox for whole body detoxification, with or without dietary changes, it’s up to you!

2. Fibre- Fibre helps make you feel full, so you can end up eating less. Plus, fibre helps elimination through the bowel. See VitaMucil from VitaTree Nutritionals. High fibre capsules that are easy to swallow with no mixing needed!

3. Calcium and Vitamin D3- Studies show that a calcium and D3 deficiency leads to weight gain and the ability to lose weight is hampered. Calcium should be a whole food calcium, not a tablet or capsule that are usually laded with fillers, binding agents and flow agents. See my Whole Food Coral Calcium.

Getting Enough Calcium? Try These Non-Dairy Sources

Mar 14th, 2011 Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Getting Enough Calcium? Try These Non-Dairy Sources

Getting enough good quality calcium is difficult for most people, especially if you do not consume dairy products (which I don’t really recommend anyway). Get good quality, absorbable calcium from foods such as almonds and sesame seeds, spinach, broccoli and fortified oatmeal. These foods are alkaline forming in the blood, meaning that the calcium ingested has the best chance of being absorbed into the bones.
Still not getting enough? Supplement with VitaTree’s Whole Food Calcium. This is high quality coral calcium that is well absorbed and utilized by the body, and it is alkalinizing too.

When choosing a Vitamin D supplement, be sure it is the best source, from sheeps lanolin. This source of Vitamin D is natural and in the form of D3, the best utilized by the body. Vitamin D should also be suspended in oil for best absorption as it is a fat-soluble vitamin. Watch out for Vitamin D tablets that are full of synthetic fillers. Is Milk Really that Good for You?

May 11th, 2010 Posted in alternative medicine, health, men's health, Uncategorized, vitamins, Whole food vitamins, women's health | Comments Off on Is Milk Really that Good for You?

The dairy board would certainly have you believing that milk and other dairy products are healthy for all of us. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Most people over the age of 2 have difficulty digesting dairy products. The reason for this is that our natural enzyme lactase decreases as we age. We have lactase to digest our mother’s breast milk and once we’re finished breastfeeding, our lactase decreases naturally. This is why so many people are diagnosed with lactose intolerance. The other argument that often presents itself is the whole calcium and osteoporosis issue. Yes, there is calcium in dairy products, however it is not usually used very well by the body to strengthen the bones. Strong bones have more to do with preventing the loss of calcium from the bones. This is a chemistry issue. Calcium comes out of the bones to buffer the blood when the blood is too acidic. What makes the blood too acidic? Proteins, such as dairy products. This is one of the reasons that there is more osteoporosis in dairy consuming countries, as opposed to countries that consume no dairy at all!
To maintain healthy bones, make sure you consume an alkalinizing diet and take only whole food vitamins that are not too high in calcium. Synthetic calcium supplements can actually send a signal to your body to remove calcium from the bones! For more info read my book, The Healthy Millionaire.
