If your memory is failing and you thinking isn’t as quick as it once was, you may be suffering from a lack of DHA. DHA is an essential omega 3 fatty acid that comes from fish. You need to supplement with DHA daily to give your brain this essential nutrient as the blood transfers up to 5% DHA to the brain on a daily basis. If the brain becomes deficient in DHA, it doesn’t function optimally, leading to all kinds of ailments such as brain fog, memory loss and lack of nerve conduction can result. High levels of DHA are available in VitaFish Oil from VitaTree Nutritionals. VitaFish oil is unique in that the ratio of DHA to EPA is 40:10. This is important for nourishing the brain with the essential DHA it cannot produce on it’s own.

What one food can you eliminate from your diet and see a dramatic reduction in your cholesterol? Sugar is the answer. Whether it is table sugar, glucose, fructose, and/or high fructose corn syrup, it is important to eliminate or drastically reduce this non-food from the diet to improve cholesterol levels. Most of my patients assume that it is the meats, saturated animal fats and cholesterol containing foods like eggs and shrimp that increase cholesterol. I find however that sugar consumption increases total cholesterol levels. Watch out for VitaTree’s Cholesterol Formula, soon to be launched in Canada.

Heartburn and stomach ulcers are often caused from a deficiency of good bacteria, or probiotics in the intestinal tract. Good bacteria have the ability to protect us from bad bacteria such as H.Pylori, E. coli, parasites and fungi. It is important to supplement with human strains of probiotics daily to make sure you have a strong army of the good guys to ward off the bad bacteria when you may ingest them.

Chronic headaches are a sign of toxicity and perhaps cranial restrictions that impede the proper flow of cerebral spinal fluid in the brain. Toxicity is common due to all the environmental toxins we are exposed to daily. If we do not detoxify our main internal organs regularly, these toxins build up and can cause headaches. Migraines are a more serious form of headaches and usually a sign of more toxicity. The organs that are toxic and related to migraines include the liver, kidneys and digestive tract. By doing a regular detox, at least 4 times per year, at the change of each season, this is one important step towards alleviating migraines and preventing them in the future. Craniosacral therapy and osteopathy are treatments that can help release restrictions in the cranium that can be a cause for migraines. We have all been told to eat less red meat and more fish because fish is much healthier for us. Unfortunately, fish is quite toxic and is often high in mercury, a heavy metal. Heavy metals such as mercury damage our cells and especially our digestive tract, liver, kidneys and brain. So how do we get the benefits of fish oils, the omega 3 fatty acids, without having to worry about the mercury and other toxins in fish? The answer is by taking a high quality, pharmaceutical grade fish oil supplement that is third party tested to be free from contaminants such as mercury, dioxins and PCB’s. You must also make sure that your fish oil supplement is not diluted with less expensive oils such as soybean oil. This only dilutes the efficacy of the fish oil. Your fish oil must also be higher in DHA as compared to EPA. DHA is the essential nutrient for your brain and nervous system that helps with memory and cognitive function. For more information on Fish oils, see VitaFish Oil, (*the only pharmaceutical grade fish oil without fillers and higher in DHA ) and how to detoxify the body, mind and spirit, read The Healthy Millionaire.
