Do I need to take Magnesium with my Calcium?

Dec 22nd, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized, vitamins, weight loss, women's health | Comments Off on Do I need to take Magnesium with my Calcium?

For most people, the answer is no. Magnesium and calcium compete for absorption, so it is not always the best idea to take them together. Calcium works best with trace amounts of other minerals, magnesium being one of them. Be sure to take calcium in a whole food form, like VitaTree Whole Food Calcium. This special formulation contains over 65 other trace minerals, plus the calcium. This means your body will absorb the calcium while keeping your system more alkaline. This ensures the calcium goes into the bones, where it is needed.

How Healthy is Your 10 Year Old?

Dec 15th, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off on How Healthy is Your 10 Year Old?

The definition of health means different things to different people. The foundation of health begins with a healthy diet, regular exercise and a good mental attitude. Ten year olds are at the age where they begin to make a lot of decisions on their own as to what they choose to eat, whether it is healthy or not. When they know the value of proper nutrition, and how poor nutrition can affect their athletic ability, schoolwork and overall performance, they are more apt to pay attention to what they eat and drink. Don’t get me wrong, my 10 year old still consumes “junk food” now and then, but I do realize he attempts to make healthier choices because he knows how he will feel if he overdoes it with the bad stuff.
Educating our children about the consequences of poor nutrition goes much further than always saying “that’s junk food”. Telling them concrete facts like sugar causes infections, lowers the immune system and ruins your teeth helps them to understand why too much sugar is not the best choice.

Can Vitamins Cause Cancer?

Dec 13th, 2010 Posted in alternative medicine, cancer, health, Uncategorized, women's health | Comments Off on Can Vitamins Cause Cancer?

In my opinion yes! Synthetically made vitamins, whether they are B Vitamins, multivitamins, Vitamin C, E, and so on, can be potientially toxic and cancer causing. Even The American Cancer Society Website States:

“Only a few randomized clinical trials of B vitamin supplements have been done. Most of these studies reported that supplements did not reduce cancer risk. In one recent study, people given folate and vitamin B6 supplements were more likely to develop and die of cancer than people taking a placebo pill. It is still unclear whether taking in more B vitamins will help protect against cancer or increase cancer risk.”

The truth is that synthetic vitamins have not been tested and proven safe over longterm use. Sadly, most people who take vitamins, do take them for a long period of time. Unknowingly, they may be taking something that is doing more harm than good. Remember, the body recognizes and digests and absorbs the DNA in food. Keeping it simple, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, preferably raw, is the best defense against cancer and other serious degenerative diseases. Be sure to supplement with whole food, raw nutrients like VitaFruits and VitaVeggies from VitaTree Nutritionals. All natural, no synthetic vitamins and minerals and absolutely no fillers or chemical byproducts. For more info visit www.vitatree.ca

Vitamin D, Do You Get Enough?

Dec 6th, 2010 Posted in health, Uncategorized, vitamins, women's health | Comments Off on Vitamin D, Do You Get Enough?

Recent news questions the need to supplement with Vitamin D. I still believe that it is imperative that we get enough Vitamin D, especially in the winter months, living in Canada. For most people, getting enough means supplementing with a high quality Vitamin D, in the form of D3. Vitamin D is fat soluble, meaning it is not easily excreted from the body. There is a possibility of overdoing it and supplementing too much.
I recommend 1000 IU to 3000 IU per day of Vitamin D3. VitaTree Nutritionals will soon launch D3, so watch for it. This high quality Vitamin D supplement is in 1000 IU capsules, with no toxic fillers or preservatives.
